Movement and Energy in Art

The Visual Art week is primarily focus on artists who create the cultural resources of our shared future. The workshops in this week aim to offer a practice-based approach to technical, conceptual, historical and critical contexts of Visual Arts by providing the participants the skills and knowledge to define and innovate within their chosen cultural and artistic field.


The workshop aims to encourage participants to draw inspiration from everyday objects. Each participant will come up with an idea to represent movement and journey and this can then be discussed in groups to explore how this can be translated into a piece of art.


Explore ideas, shapes and colour that will represent movement. Create painting.

-Discussions on ideas, explore colour, practice mark making,

-The participant will come up with ideas on how to visually represent their own physical, emotional, spiritual journey.

-How to look for and find inspiration for your painting

-Explore what emotions are brought about by the choices of colours.

-They will be encouraged to think about mark making on the canvas and how the stroke can emulate and suggest movement


About the Expert (Siddiqa Juma)

- An artist who creates art that celebrates a rich religious and cultural heritage

- Also writes, illustrate and produces Islamic children’s books and animated series
